Most chocolate chip cookie recipes make at least two dozen cookies. Not many people can eat that many cookies in one sitting. However, simply leaving the cookies out on the counter will result in dry cookies that will be less than satisfying. Saving the dough for later is also an option. If done properly, you can have fresh cookies again later. To find out how, read the following tips on how to store cookies or cookie dough.

Store In An Airtight Container
Homemade chocolate chip cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. To prevent the cookies from drying out, you can place a piece of bread or a slice of apple in the container with the cookies. The moisture from the bread or apple will help keep the cookies soft and chewy.
Another way to keep the cookies fresh for longer is to store them in an airtight container with a humidifier pack. You can also freeze the dough or baked cookies for longer storage.
Roll Dough In Plastic Wrap
Roll [the cookie dough] in plastic wrap to a tube shape, flatten the ends and seal them tightly with another layer of wrap. When the time comes to bake [the cookies], slice them and place them on the pan.

Refrigerate Dough Balls
Make the dough, roll it out into balls, and then store them in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of days. When [ready] to bake, take them straight out of the fridge into the oven. It also depends on the recipe and ingredients to ensure they don’t dry out.
